Goblin Clans

Goblins are a varied species of evil humanoids whom scholars trace back to the elves in the Second Age. The Faerie Realm was open in the Forest of Dreams. Some elves still sought revenge against the dragons, and in their foolishness taught humans to wield magic not meant for them. These elves entered the mountains and crawled deep into the Underworld, their hearts twisted by hate and ugliness, and they became the goblins, warring for the next two ages against the dwarves to shared the underworld.

Many scholars agree that goblins have interbred with many other creatures—such as humans, gnomes, ogres, and even dwarves—causing additional variation within their species. Some have fur, some have tusks, some have red eyes, and some animalistic features. Goblins have broad physiology ranging from skins-tones similar to Men and Elves to greens and reds. While gremlins are only a foot tall, bugbears stand seven feet or greater.

There are six recognized stock of goblins based on size and build, however, some goblins fall between these stocks.
Gremlin: The smallest goblinoid, but not the weakest.
Boggard: The weakest goblinoids.
Bogle: The most common goblinoid.
High Goblin: Goblins that can pass as elves.
Bocan: Brutish and intelligent, these are the cunning leaders of the goblinoids.
Buggar: The biggest and strongest goblinoids who sometimes seize the leadership.

Within these categories, many goblins fill niche rolls.
